T1  Guitar: Beginning & Intermediate
Week:  1                                                                Grades:  5 & up
In this class we learn how to make music on the coolest of all instruments - the guitar! We play basic chords, learn to read various kinds of notation and make music individually and as a group. Guitar players looking to take their playing up to the next level will also love this class! We’ll learn new chords, tunes and techniques, and increase our overall knowledge of the guitar. Students who have taken a basic guitar class are welcome to join the fun.

T2 Be a Magician!
Week: 1                                                                 Grades: 3 & up
Here's your chance to learn magic from one of the top magicians in the Capital Region. Magician Jim Snack will draw from his bag of tricks to teach sleight of hand, close-up magic, and illusions. Each student will master several tricks with cards, coins, rope and other readily available objects to present at the Open House. The workshop is for ages 8 and above.

T3 Be a Magician II (Advanced)
Week: 5                                                                 Grades: 5 & up
This course is for students who have already taken the first Be a Magician class and want to continue learning magic.  The focus will be on sleight of hand magic and illusions that require more practice to master, and, as a result are not seen as frequently.  There will be more individual attention and each student will work on mastering several more advanced magic tricks not covered in the first session.  This class is for students who are at least 10 years old and have taken the first Be a Magician session.  Students under ten years old who have taken the first session may be admitted with permission of the instructor.

T4 Time Travelers to the Rescue! Egyptian Adventure
Weeks 3 - 4 (two week course)                      Grades : 3-10
Strap on your goggles and jump into your time machines as we race around the globe and back through time to discover amazing moments
in an improbable Past, Present and Future! Inspired by the science-fiction stories of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, we will explore a Victorian Era that never quite was, and project ourselves into a fantastic future, powered by Steam and Clockworks. Explore the tombs of Ancient Pharaohs to find the Key to our Future, that lies buried in the Past. Pyramids, Mummies, Time Machines and other fantastic apparatus will be created to assist us in our astounding endeavors. Join other "Anachronologists" and delve into the action-packed ideas of "Steampunk" technology. Adventure Awaits!

T5  The Heldeberg Percussion Squad
Week:  2                                                                Grades:  5 – 8 
Guided by a professional percussionist, students of all levels will work together to create amazing sound sculptures.  We’ll learn to create “hip grooves” for drum circles, lay down a “street beat” on the Heldeberg trails, and have a great time improvising and improving our technique on a wide variety of cool instruments!

T6 Whodunnit?  It’s a Mystery!
Weeks: 5 – 6 (two week course)                    Grades: 3 - 10
A dark and stormy night...
    A mysterious package...
    A curious message....
Uncover the evidence in this bizarre and baffling occurrence. Unravel
a web of intrigue as you sharpen sleuthing skills. Decipher and decode
the clues to solve perplexing puzzles.
    Investigate the improbable, eliminate the impossible, and arrive
at the startling solution!
    Join us for our version of CSI: Heldeberg Workshop.

T7  Theater in the Heldebergs 
Weeks:  5 – 6 (two week course)                   Grades:  4 - 8
Actors, actresses, musicians, crew-hands - put all of your creative energies to work as we collaborate on the writing and production of the 2017 premier of “Theater in the Heldebergs”!

T8  Live from the Heldebergs
Week:  6                                                                Grades:  7 - 12
After last summer's exciting comedy workshop, "Live from the Heldebergs" will return for a week of comedy writing, improvisation and sketch creation.  The workshop will conclude with a live performance of the students' written work.

T9 Revenge of the Trolls: Marionette Theater
Week:  6                                                                Grades: 5 – 8

Revenge of the Mountain Trolls: the Gold of the Heldebergs! The troll wars continue. Make your own troll marionette and perform the story of the Heldeberg trolls for the younger kids at the workshop. Your troll could be a fearsome warrior or a beautiful troll princess. This class teaches puppet construction and manipulation along with storytelling. Whether you are a mountain troll or a woodland troll, the battle will be fierce!

T10  Wizards Workshop 
Weeks: 1 – 2 (two week course)                    Grades:  3 - 10
Your OWL has arrived! Don't miss your opportunity to attend
Hogwarts in the Helderbergs. Potions, Magic Charms, and Mystical Beasts (and where to find them) are a few of the subjects that students will enjoy in this creative crash course in theatrical conjuring. Apprentices will construct a Wizard's wardrobe, magical apparatus, and other accessories of Abracadabra! Grab your broomstick and get ready to play wizard games. Imagination and Magic mixed in good measure.

T12 Story Weaver
Week: 5                                                                 Grades 5 - 8
Come ignite your imagination!  Spend the week creating colorful characters and amazing adventures that you will weave into an unforgettable tale.  Join other young writers as we explore the land for inspiration and immerse ourselves in the writing process.  We will act out scenes, do some storytelling, and create illustrations to get our creative juices flowing as we spin our yarns.  Join us for the fun!
